EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH GOAT FARMING
In Bangladesh, many women face economic dependence on their husbands for family support and fulfilling basic needs. To empower these underprivileged women and promote their independence, MLAF has initiated a transformative program: intensive training in goat farming. This initiative aims to equip marginal women farmers with the skills and resources needed to thrive in goat farming, ultimately fostering self-reliance and economic stability. This project is a collaborative effort with VSF-Sweden, who are the funders of the initiative.
Key Components:
- Intensive Training:
- Goat Health and Management: Providing women with comprehensive knowledge and skills in goat farming, including health care, nutrition, and management practices.
- Post-Training Support:
- Distribution of Goats: Each trainee receives one she-goat, and groups of trainees receive two male goats for breeding purposes.
- Breeding Programs: Ensuring sustainable goat farming practices and enhancing productivity.
Impact:
- Empowered Women: By equipping women with the necessary skills and resources, they become independent and capable of contributing significantly to their family’s income.
- Sustainable Farming: The breeding program ensures long-term sustainability and productivity of goat farming.
- Economic Growth: Market linkages facilitate better income opportunities, enhancing the economic status of the women involved.
We welcome everyone to support us in expanding this impactful initiative across the country, helping more women achieve independence and economic stability through goat farming.
